Uniconta supports takeout.dk’s growth
By year end 2016, takeout.dk, a premium portal for ordering take-out food online, was showing over 40% growth. The growth was primarily due to the fact that the company had implemented a completely new IT system and concept and takeout.dk had to admit that their previous in-house billing module would have been totally overwhelmed by their explosive growth.
When David Kingo Sønderkær became responsible for HR and Finance at takeout.dk, he was keen to move financial management away from their external accountant and back in-house in order to ensure that they had total overview of the company at all times.
”We didn’t want to move the entire server fleet in-house. We already had a secure cloud-based IT platform that services our customers, so this seemed like the natural way to go,” says David Kingo Sønderkær.
So Takeout.dk began researching the different solutions available in the market. However, the company had some very specific requirements for invoice management, commission calculation and the management of their customers, who were also their suppliers. Amongst other things, these requirements meant that systems like e-conomic, were rejected during the selection process.
In addition, the integration between the financial management system and takeout.dk’s technical platform for handling food orders was critically important to their success.
This was one of the deciding factors that ultimately led takeout.dk to select Uniconta and it was Concept Data, one of Uniconta’s official partners, who stood up to the challenge.
From vision to reality
The vision for the new system is to create the foundation for an all-in-one IT-solution that not only handles billing and order management but also supports logistics, partner and restaurant relations, B2B and B2C trade, order handling from their own portals was well as from collaborating partners’ portals and the dispatch of orders directly to the drivers who are making the deliveries via a dedicated app.
When it comes to the operational side of takeout.dk, David Kingo Sønderkær knows the company inside-out. Before taking the job of HR and Finance Manager, he initially handled the contact to the drivers, followed by a role in customer service.
”At takeout.dk, we handle all parts of the ordering and logistical processes. We bring apps and websites to restaurants, handle the API integration for partners and we also have a ”Driverkitt” app which handles the logistics, whereby the drivers receive the orders which are directly integrated into a GPS system, enabling the drivers to deliver the orders to the customers quickly and efficiently.” David explains.
The first phase, which was to integrate Uniconta for billing, has now been completed. Takeout.dk is now working on phase two, which is to implement Uniconta as the IT-foundation for the entire process from order to delivery.
”Our collaboration with Concept Data has worked impeccably. We already have a lot of in-house knowledge of APIs (the Uniconta integration tool) as well as integration development, but the fact that Concept Data could quickly grasp our issues and were good at brainstorming with us on how to best use a standard version of Uniconta, was really valuable,” David Kingo Sønderkær says.

”We see great potential in the fact that our IT platform is fully integrated with Uniconta. Uniconta supports 20 languages, which enables us to bring an all-in-one solution to the table. We intend to continue our expansion beyond Denmark and we stand in good stead with a complete, global solution that can handle the complexity of the entire takeout ordering and delivery process, as well as the underlying invoicing and financial management,” David concludes.
