Jysk Vandteknik: The fight for clean water

Too much lime in the taps. Pesticides in the water drills. The baristas’ hunt for the perfect taste in an espresso. You can soften. You can clean. You can regulate. There are many reasons why water treatment is an industry in rapid growth – and at Jysk Vandteknik, the choice of Uniconta is a key to the comprehensive digitalization that will enable the company to be at the forefront of a new business adventure.

“We started with servicing bottle changes for water treatment in catering and industrial companies but expanded after a few years with our own regeneration center. When it became legal to sell drinking-approved water softening systems to private homes in 2016, we also became providers for water treatment plants to households and apartment buildings” says Anita Graversen, who is married to the owner of Jysk Vandteknik and financial controller in the family business.

“So, when we started looking for a new financial system, the requirement was a solution that could manage us being a service provider, manufacturer, wholesaler, importer, btb-dealer and btc-dealer at the same time. I spent half a year searching the ERP market and found that Uniconta had all the flexibility we needed.”

Inventory and liquidity

Efficient inventory management was the first requirement. Previously, we only had an overview of inventory, Anita explains, but with more customers and water treatment plants from a few thousand Danish kroner to up to 200,000 DKK, it became crucial to put a value on the inventory. Uniconta provides complete control over inventory and amounts, so she can ensure the optimal flow in relation to liquidity.

“This is important for a growth company like ours. The overview is also a powerful tool when we have to discuss price and payment terms with our suppliers. It gives us an edge when we know exactly what it costs to have their products in stock.”

Integration and planning

The second requirement was smooth integration with Mobilplan, which is the planning and project management tool that all the employees use. Their Uniconta Partner, Systemcenter, has developed a solution that integrates Mobilplan with Uniconta.

“Before Uniconta, we entered an order manually in Mobilplan. When the job was reported done, we printed the order and entered everything again so we could invoice the case. If it was an EAN customer, we had to enter the whole thing a third time on Sproom to send an electronic invoice. Now we can drag the order from Mobilplan directly to Uniconta and simply adjust the invoice, if necessary. We really save a lot of process time” Anita says.

Just getting started

“We are in the process of adjusting to a digital reality – and Uniconta is a key to reaching the goal” says Anita. “For example, today we more or less work paperless. There are a few folders left – and we are working on getting the last information into Uniconta, so that all information is stored digitally on the individual customer. Once that is done, we are really on our way to becoming completely digital.”

The next big step will be to implement Uniconta’s subscription management system in the company. It has to manage the increasing number of private customers with a softening plant, which every year need a service visit by a technician. The goal is that the system, every month, create an order for the customers that are up next – completely automatically.

“It is necessary if Jysk Vandteknik has to continue with personal service at the high level our customers are used to, without compromising on efficiency and profitability,” says Anita Graversen. “And it is a must.”
